Terlusollogy

The teaching of Terlusollogy is a typology by the violinist Wilk and the doctor Hagana, which is based on two types of breath and constitution. With type-appropriate exercise, breathing and nutrition, users should be able to improve their personal constitution. So far, the connections of terlology have not been scientifically proven.

What is Terlusollogy?

Terlussology is a concept of alternative medicine. It goes back to the type theory of violinist Erich Wilk from the 20th century. On the basis of this teaching, the German doctors Charlotte and Christian Hagena developed a type of breathing theory that is mainly used in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The concept is also called Wilk's breathing type theory or the solar / lunar concept. The word "Terlusollogie" is a registered trademark and corresponds to an artificial word that is also composed of the Latin words terra, luna and sol, as well as the Greek word λόγος. Terlussology is thus a doctrine of the interrelationships between the earth, the sun and the moon. On the basis of these mutual relationships, C. and C. Hagena developed different types of breath that influence the constitution of the person.

Function, effect & goals

Terrlussology postulates the influence that the sun and moon have on humans. The background is the scientific connection that the sun and moon act on the center of the earth.

On the basis of the solar and lunar influences, Wilk developed two different breathing types, which C. and C. Hagena serve as the basis for two constitutional types. The lunar inhalation type is differentiated in Wilk's teaching from the solar exhalation type. The day of birth decides what type of breath a person can be counted on. During the first independent breathing, either the lunar or the solar type predominates. From the perspective of Terlusollogy, this connection shapes people for a lifetime. For the lunar portion, Terlusollogy determines values ​​between one percent for a new moon and 100 percent for a full moon. According to the teaching, the solar share is between one percent on December 21 and 100 percent on June 21. The beginning of winter and summer characterize the basic concept in addition to the phases of the moon.

The main difference between the two types of breathing is the type of breathing. They use the chest and abdomen differently for breathing and also emphasize the breathing phases of inhalation and exhalation to different degrees. As a causal consequence of the different types of breathing, two different types of constitution develop. They differ primarily in their posture, but also in their type of exercise and diet. A permanent deviation from the typical breathing characteristics should reduce the performance of the types and lead to a health impairment. Terlussology is a holistic approach that relates to all areas of life.

The aim of the teaching is to determine your own breathing type and to align accordingly. For the lunar type, the teaching considers a sporting background to be beneficial. Lunar types keep moving and are especially lively in the evening. They rarely stand still and their posture appears diffuse. Challenges and hard ways suit them. The opposite, solar type radiates calm and is a static type. He's a morning person and goes to bed early. He loves the Mediterranean climate and the cuisine there. In addition to these differences, there are differences between the two types, especially from a health perspective.

Solar energy systems, for example, do not have to worry about their fluid balance, are best looked after during activities with little physical activity and benefit from climatic extremes. Lunars don't need a scarf in winter. You should beware of nicotine, while nicotine is less harmful to solar. With alcohol it is the opposite. In the area of ​​nutrition as well as in all other areas of life, a type-appropriate behavior should improve the constitution. The core of the terminological practice is working with the interactions between breathing, posture and movement. A series of twelve physical exercises per breathing type forms the basis and stimulates the auxiliary breathing muscles.

Risks, side effects & dangers

Terlological methods apply to alternative medicine in many other fields. The methods are currently used, for example, in singing, playing instruments, in education, in speech therapy and in business coaching.

Terlusollogy is also represented in Asian techniques. The scientific background of the teaching is so far thin. There are basically no scientific publications on terlusology. The developers largely rely on their own application experience. For his diploma thesis, the singer, trainer and speaker Frederik Beyer asked around 500 test persons about the assumptions of Terlusollogy. After the survey, he judged the assumptions he examined as simply wrong. These results led him to call the teaching a pseudoscience.

Although the supposedly positive effects of Terlusollogy cannot be considered proven, the teaching is still popular in many departments. At least negative consequences or risks do not seem to be related to type-appropriate breathing, exercise and nutrition within the scope of terlusology. Nonetheless, scientific authors in particular often call type theory an esoteric nonsense that lacks any evidence. Modern medicine in particular shies away from large-scale application.
