What is ivermectin?
As Ivermectin is called a so-called anti-parasitic agent. A remedy that is used against the parasitic spread in humans and animals.
Basically, it is a whitish to light yellow powder that cannot be dissolved in water, but is primarily mixed with other carrier liquids for better administration. Ivermectin was used in human medicine for a long time, but its importance there is now dwindling. In contrast, the preparation is still widespread in veterinary medicine.
It is used when humans and animals are externally attacked by parasites, lice, ticks and mites. But worms can also be rendered harmless in the organism. The ivermectin causes the undesired infestation to die off and in this way initiates the subsequent recovery process.
Pharmacological effect
Generally it can Ivermectin be well absorbed by the human and animal organism when administered. Shortly after ingestion, it is already detectable in the fatty tissue and the liver. From there it is able to locate the parasite's chloride channels.
Such a channel is considered to be a transport path for ions and in turn leads to the mobility of invertebrates. However, the functionality of these channels is inhibited by the ivermectin. It is no longer possible to discharge the ions from the living being. Rather, the flow is fed back into the mite, tick or louse, whereby an excess of chloride ions is formed in the living being. Relief via the chloride channel is no longer possible due to the blocking ivermectin. The parasite is first paralyzed.
He has a disorder of mobility, can no longer move and just as little can escape his fate. In addition, it will no longer access the human organism and therefore neither suck blood nor spread harmful substances. In this state he is doomed to die and ultimately has to perish of his paralysis. The ivermectin usually clears the infestation after one to two days.
Medical application & use

Think of lice, ticks and mites that suck human blood or spread through the hair. In all cases mentioned, the preparation may be administered internally as well as externally. The dosage does not depend on the severity of the infestation, but on the physical constitution of the patient.
He can also take the ivermectin every six to 12 months as a preventive measure, in order to avoid a further outbreak, which could arise in particular from the eggs of the parasites.
Risks & side effects
The side effects of the Ivermectin led to the fact that the remedy was recently used a little less in human medicine. The main ones to be mentioned are headaches, nausea and attacks of nervousness.
A mild fever can also occur. If the ivermectin is administered directly to the skin, i.e. used there as a cream or lotion, it can cause redness, itching and edema. In addition, risk patients who already complain of chronic illnesses often react with asthmatic attacks.
It is also crucial that, even if treatment with ivermectin is successful, a medical follow-up examination should always take place to clarify whether the parasites have been extensively excreted from the body. If this is not the case, the immune system can weaken in the course of the following weeks. The ivermectin should therefore always be used under medical supervision.
