A music lover has a great knowledge of music.

What is a music lover?

A music lover is a person that shows a very great passion or a very intense devotion for the music, especially for classical or academic music. This word derives from melomania, which is considered a hobby or even a fanaticism excessive by the music.

Although the term melomania is composed of the Greek voices melos ("Singing accompanied by music") and mania (“Insanity”), this condition is seldom considered harmful, dangerous, or a disease.

Music lovers simply focus their interests on the consumption of music, that is, in the purchase and listening to records, the collection and classification of recordings. In some cases they learn to play instruments and in others they simply treasure the experiences held through music.

For that reason, someone who enjoys and knows music a lot is a music lover, although in a technical sense there is a distinction between melomania and audiophilia: an audiophile is interested in the recording and reproduction of the music. sound, especially from music, but also from the human voice. It is common for a music lover to also show traits of audiophilia, or for an audiophile to tend to melomania.

Finally, not every musician or composer can always be called a music lover, although it is normal that, since music is his area of work, he knows a lot about it and is passionate about it. But the term "music lover" is usually reserved for people who, not coming from a professional background in music, are passionate about it.
