What is a political region?

The political regions or political-administrative regions are the areas in which the humanity divide the land surface according to powers Y governments sovereigns in them.   • The Mexican federal state. A cultural region can be defined by customs, tradition, or language.

Apart from the political, geographical regions can be organized according to various criteria, depending on the specific element in which we decide to focus. We have, like this:

  • Natural regions. When we choose to look at the natural conformation of the terrain: relief, hydrography, vegetation, weather, etc.
  • Economic regions. If we look at the way in which societies people organize their productive work and financial.
  • Cultural regions. If we look exclusively at the similarity of the cultures local (generally using for this the religion or the spoken language) and the territories occupied by its practitioners.
  • Urban regions. Those that generally comprise a large urban population (a great town) and those of lesser preponderance that accompany it or depend on it.
